MOLLY HERON is a painter and photographer based in New York City. Her work explores color perception, abstraction, and found color, often drawing from her deep engagement with materiality and environment. She received her MFA in Visual Arts from the Vermont College of Fine Arts in 2011.
Heron’s work has been exhibited nationally and internationally since 1992 and is held in private collections. In 2013, she created a site-specific public art installation at Columbia University’s Health Sciences Library. She has participated in panel discussions at Columbia’s Earth Institute, including Positive Feedback Art/Science and Bacteria in Art and Science, as well as the Compiled and Composed exhibition and panel at Maloney Art Gallery in Morristown, NJ.
She has had solo exhibitions at the University of Kentucky Art Museum, Brownsboro Gallery, Alice Lloyd College, and The Interchurch Center to name a few.
She is represented by Kentler International Drawing Center in Brooklyn, NY, where she has shown in group exhibitions such as New Drawings curated by Samantha Friedman (2025), and Igniting the Pendulum, curated by Hannah Israel (2019), The Essential Kentler Flatfiles (2019), Circumstances / Selections (2014).
Heron has also participated in numerous group exhibitions including The Voracious Eye at Opalka Gallery, Albany, NY (2024); Magic at Metaphor Projects, Brooklyn, NY (2022); Love Bade Me Welcome at CHR Gallery (2023), New York, NY; and the inaugural exhibition at Sculpture Space in New York, curated by Patricia Zarate (2015).
She has held residencies at Baer Art Center in Hofsos, Iceland (2022); Carter Burden Leonard Covello Center in West Harlem, NY, (2014–15); Alice Lloyd College in Pippa Passes, KY (1995); and Appalshop in Whitesburg, KY (1995).
